Mainly because they do a 2 year policy and it means one less renewal!
(I am in Belgium so it may be different in the UK)
Used to get it with my car insurance for around £25, but they actually do a slightly higher level of cover (prosecution defence for driving offences, not sure if that's standard for these kind of policies) for less - was about £19 when I bought.
I noticed you mentioned multiple cars - my policy actually says it covers me in all cars, so I think you'd probably only have to buy it once, although don't quote me on that!
